Commercial premises
Non-domestic premises are governed by the Regulatory Reform (Fire Safety) Order 2005. Businesses must appoint a ‘responsible person’, either someone within the organisation or an external fire safety professional, who is responsible for carrying out duties such as completing a fire risk assessment. Domestic property
Fire safety in domestic properties is covered by the Housing Act 2004 and the Regulatory Reform (Fire Safety) Order 2005. Guidance is available from LACORS for certain types of housing, as well as government advice on fire safety in sleeping accommodation.
